Re advertised due to no response from winner bidder.

Up for sale is my 2000 Mercedes S320 running on Petrol and LPG. I brought the car 3 years ago with a mileage of 108k, it is now 164k. During that time it has been totally reliable except for an engine sensor fault last year.

The car had no service record with it when I brought it and I have had it serviced by the local Garage/Mechanical Engineer friend of mine. As you can see the car is in the best colour combination and is fitted with rather nice AMG wheels which really set it apart.

We have travelled all round Europe on our holidays as well as all over the UK.

In case you are not familiar with LPG it is one of motoring’s best keep secret! I pay 49p per litre and it returns the same MPG as if it is running on that very expensive petrol stuff. That equates to an equivalent of 60MPG on runs and 40MPG knocking around town. Fiesta running costs in a luxury saloon.

As well as all the usual toys this car is fitted with soft close doors and cooled ventilated seats. How good is that.

Everything works as it should and the ride is like a magic carpet with the air suspension (you won’t want springs after this). Only thing that is below par is the climate control, ( you need to set to 12 degrees for normal heating and low to bring in the air condition, which works well.

The car is also fitted with a removable towing hitch.

Good points

12 months MOT

New front wings

AMG wheels

Looks fantastic

Great Ride

Very cheap to run

Very comfortable

Heated, cooled electric memory front seats

Recent new rear discs

Recent rear suspension re bushed

Rear sun blind

Automatic rain detecting wipers

Blue Tooth phone kit fitted

2 keys

Bad points

It is a Mercedes and so it does have rust. Usual places, door bottoms, rear wheel archs, around sunroof

Advisories on MOT where harsh!

Diff leaking (needs sorting)

Rear shocker light misting (needs sorting)

Rear flexi hose leaking slightly (very minor)

Front exhaust mounting bracket broken (no idea how he spotted it)

Very slight play in front track rod end (Very very slight play)

Front discs worn (these will need doing in about 10k)

Hand brake warning light (needs lighting with foot to go out, been like that a while)

You can see that I have accurately described to car and not ‘missed out’ the bad points so you can bid with confidence. Overall a great car and a pleasure to drice.

As every I would recommend viewing before bidding.

Anyone with less than 25 feedback please contact me before bidding otherwise your bid will be removed.

£200 deposit via paypal or bacs within 24 hours of auction end balance on collection.

The best car in the world

Lotus Elan S3 SE DHC

This is a 1967 Lotus Elan Series 3, Special Equipment, Drop Head Coupe, and it is by far the best car I have owned or driven.

So the car has 155mm wide tyres, 115 BHP engine (allegedly ) from a 1558cc engine running on twin carbs and not a computer in site.

So why is it the best car?

Looks? Yes.

Ride? Yes

Comfort? (cosy but comfortable)

Performance?

Lets think about that. Last night I watched on TV top gear with cars having 380 BHP and more, top speeds of 190 MPH and o-60 in 4 seconds. Great but where are you going to enjoy that. lets get real here. There was also a Ferrari that cost £1m, where would you be happy leaving that.

The Elan was fast in its day and 0-60 times of 6 to 7 seconds is still pretty good and 30 to 35 mpg during ‘normal’ use. The car was, and is, just so tactile to drive.

More to follow. And please add your thoughts.

Nation Kit Car Show 2014

I had the pleasure of going to this years National Kit car show at Stoneleigh. I went on the Bank Holiday Monday as I was busy all day Sunday.

The Show advertises that it is open 10 till 5pm on both days but cars started drifting off as soon as we arrived (or maybe before!) which was a 12.30 and by 3.30 a large number had gone and many of the pitches were empty.

Shame for me but also shame for everyone as the Sun came out then. If you are planning to go next year, I suggest Sunday or early on on Monday.

All the exhibitors in the Halls were there to late, so if you do do as I did, do the Halls last.

Some great cars on display and some good Club stands. I does surprise me the prices being asked for kits and the estimated finished build costs. These seem to be way out of proportion to a real market value.
